Description: The US Fish and Wildlife Service is the principal Federal agency assigned to protect, conserve and enhance fish, wildlife and their habitats. We employ many of the country’s best biologists, wildlife managers, law enforcement agents, and others who work to save endangered and threatened species, and conserve migratory birds and inland fisheries. The Division of Human Resources is located at the Regional Office in Portland, Oregon and manages, plans, directs, and coordinates the Regional Human Resources Program for Regions 1 and 8, while providing human resources service to approximately 2,300 employees.

Position Description/Tasks: This SCEP position will work in the area of Human Resources. You’ll continue your education and work in your field of study when you are not attending classes. This position will involve a variety of training and developmental assignments in the Human Resources field. Upon graduation, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a permanent career or career conditional position with the Federal government.

SCEP Requirements: This position is designed for candidates interested in Human Resources. The student must be enrolled at least half-time in classes and have at least one year remaining prior to graduation. It is a requirement that SCEP students must work at least 640 hours prior to graduation. The student must be in academic good standing and maintain the grade point average (GPA) requirements of the school.

Duration of the Internship: Multiple terms. SCEP positions may last a year or more and may be converted to a permanent position after graduation and satisfactory completion of all Program requirements.

Proposed Start Date: February 26, 2012

Work Requirement: Work schedules may be part-time, full-time, alternating or concurrent with coursework. The work schedule should not interfere with the student’s academic schedule or progress.

Qualifications & Requirements:
To qualify for the GS-3 level:
(a) You must have completed 1 academic year of post-high school study;
OR
(b) Completion of 1 full semester or the equivalent of post-high school study and 1 period* of student trainee work experience.

To qualify for the GS-4 level:
(a) You must have completed 2 academic years of post-high school study or Associate’s degree;
OR
(b) Completion of 1 academic year of study and 2 periods* of student trainee experience;
OR
(c) Completion of 1 ½ academic years of study and 1 period* of student trainee experience.

*A period of student trainee work experience is the equivalent of 2 months (320 hours) of full-time work experience.

How you will be evaluated: We will review your application package to ensure minimum qualifications are met. All qualified candidates will be referred and veteran’s preference will apply.

Compensation: GS-3: $12.59 per hour OR GS-4: $14.14 per hour

Benefits: SCEP students are eligible for health insurance, life insurance, retirement, thrift savings plan, and leave accrual on the same basis as permanent employees with comparable work schedules.

Title: HRMA Secretary

Record notes at speaker meetings and email them to the VP of Internal Relations by Friday to be published
Record minutes at officer meetings and distribute these notes to officers viaemail within two days of the meeting.
Keep files on HRMA’s network drive and HRMA’s notebooks organized and current.
Have regularly scheduled office hours
Check and respond to HRMA Gmail email account during office hours
Assist or direct other PSU HRMA officers as needed.

November PHRMA Volunteer Opportunity

Hi All,

The November PHRMA appreciation event is coming up November 9th from
4:30pm - 6:30pm! This is not a luncheon, but an event aimed at
celebrating the accomplishments of PHRMA and recognizing the efforts
of all PHRMA volunteers. There will be plenty of food, games
(pineapple bowling, anyone?), and networking opportunities for those

2011 SHRM Conference

This year the Annual SHRM Conference will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference is from June 26th-29th. The conference is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with other HR professionals from across the country. It is also a forum to share ideas and best practices as well as a place to learn and enhance your knowledge about HR practices. By achieving this award, our chapter distinguishes itself as an outstanding organization dedicated to serving the needs of our members and to the advancement of the human resource management profession. Chapters that earned merit or superior merit status will receive an award plaque. The plaque will be sent to your student chapter advisor in early June. Additionally, a press release and full merit award report will be available at the end of May.

2nd Annual Sustainable Fashion Show "Ecouture"

Our friends the American Marketing Association are having their 2nd annual Ecouture Fashion Show. They are offering a few free tickets for HRMA members so email LydiaGarcia00@gmail.com if you are interested.

When: Tuesday, June 8th

Where:PSU Smith Ballroom, Smith Memorial Student Union

Time: 5:30pm to 8:00pm

Who: AMA student organization is putting on the ECOUTURE, annual sustainable fashion show.

Guests will have the opportunity to shop and mingle with on-site vendors including eco-fabulous accessories, clothing, hair care and sustainable services-as well as win raffle prizes.
